LibreOffice woes

Preliminary notes (to be moved somewhere else):

I count myself lucky to own and 'Early 2008' 24" iMac. I will post the full spec somewhere shortly.

I've resisted upgrading the OS on it beyond 10.6.8 - because I've experienced iMacs of this age running very slowly after updating to anything higher. I'd love to hear your experiences and tips on running newer OS on similar kit.

I do a lot of work/play using LibreOffice, which I find great as a word processor and spreadsheet, despite a few annoying bugs/features.

This morning I started playing/working on the computer as usual and LibreOffice (for Mac 4.3.7.2) didn't open! No error message or anything, nothing happens when app or document clicked. It was running fine last night and now doesn't.

To cut a long story short, I've worked round by finding, downloading and installing a copy of LibreOffice 4.2.3.3 for Mac from OldApps.

Again any comments or advice would be appreciated!
